Join us for a lively conversation with Pyramid Founder Helen C. Frederick and printmaker, weaver, sculptor, performance artist and educator, Joyce J. Scott.

Scott, from Baltimore, Maryland, will discuss the prints she created at Pyramid Atlantic in 2000, and how they serve as a commentary for issues regarding race, politics, sexism, and stereotypes. She received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and MFA from the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. Her work is in the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art, Mint Museum of Craft + Design, Spencer Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. In 2016 she was named a Fellow of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

Scott's work is part of Pyramid's current exhibition, Reflecting Back to the Future, for which Frederick selected pieces by 40 artists from an archive of works made of under her leadership.
