CATALUNYA Artist Reception with Lynn Sures

Rugged shapes and rich earth tones set in pulp fill the gallery in Catalunya. Lynn Sures' inspiration for this series in colored pulp was Spain's multi-peaked mountain range, Montserrat. Five of her large scale works and nearly 20 smaller, embossed pieces will be on view.

Sures creates multi-media works which examine geology, physics, and the origins of humans. Her work is in public and private collections including the US Department of State; US Library of Congress; Yale University; Schomburg Collection, New York Public Library; Museo della Carta e della Filigrana in Fabriano, Italy; R.C. Williams Museum of Papermaking in Atlanta, GA; and Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, Egypt. She is Professor Emerita of Art and Design at the Corcoran College of Art & Design.

Sures was able to make this work with the support of Museu Molì Paperer de Capellades, Spain and The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, MD.
